What is it like to live in Lisbon? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I was born and raised in Lisbon, so I would recommend it to anyone!
Lisbon is a beautiful, bright city, near the ocean and Tagus river, with amazing views and centuries of history and culture.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

Not much. If you are on a budget, then Lisbon is a good place to travel. Obviously, there are places more expensive than others (Belém, Baixa-Chiado are more expensive than other less interesting places in Lisbon). Nonetheless, when in comparison with other European cities, Lisbon is one of the cheapests.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The Portuguese gastronomy is really good! And you can find traditional portuguese dishes in a lot of coffee shops along the streets.
Some traditional portuguese food: Pastel de nata, Bacalhau à brás, pastéis de bacalhau, Cozido à Portuguesa, Caldo-verde,.......

What places would you recommend visiting in Lisbon?

There are a number of places where you can go and visit: Mosteiros dos Jerónimos, Torre de Belém, Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Belém); Alfama, Mouraria (Typical "bairros" in Lisbon), Castelo de S. Jorge, Avenida da Liberdade, Praça do Rossio, a lot of beatiful "miradouros" (viewpoints) :)

Is the nightlife good in Lisbon? Where is good to go?

Bairro Alto is the place where everyone goes to have a drink at night. Also, another good place to go is Mercado da Ribeira (Cais do Sodré) for a few drinks.
If you want clubs/discos, go to Santos, Doca de Belém...

What advice would you give future students heading to Lisbon?
