Experience in Lisbon, Portugal, by Cristina
What is it like to live in Lisbon? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Lisbon is a great city full of live and bright light. Charming and cosy, can give you the right feeling according to your mood. Very happy, young people all over the places and many cute places to enjoy a great landscape.
What is the student lifestyle like in Lisbon?
Amazing - have fun for less and build the best relationship of your life they tend to last forever.
How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?
Portugal, in general, is a very cheap country, compared to other European countries, like UK, Holland or Switzerland.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Lisbon? Is there any advice you can give?
It's easy, use Erasmusu.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Portuguese people love to eat and every single celebration or just a special occasion is a good reason to seat down and eat. The food is delicious, very tasty, so my advice is... enjoy!
What places would you recommend visiting in Lisbon?
Everywhere, museums, churches (we are a catholic country and so much of our culture is linked to that), Bairro Alto, Alfama, Cais do Sodre, Cascais... everywhere.
Is it good to eat out in Lisbon? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Great restaurants, great tasquinhas (typical Portuguese bars, a bit low profile, but with great and cheap food). My favourite is Piazza di Mari, just because of the location - it's by the river and I love Tejo.
Is the nightlife good in Lisbon? Where is good to go?
The best - very much outside, because of the good weather, people tend to be out a lot. It is very cheap too.
What advice would you give future students heading to Lisbon?
Free your mind and embrace Lisbon - it will change you for good.
