Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

Because I had a crush on this city when I came in 2019.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scolarship lasts 5 months and I receive more or less 1200 euros.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lisbon?

The student lifestyle in Lisbon is really calm, we can enjoy the city freely. Unfortunatly, due to covid-19, it is really compromised.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

Yes! Definitely. This is the place to be.

What is the food like?

You can find the typical portuguese food if you go to the little restaurants of workers and it is really cheap. Some famous specialities to try is: bacalhau, pasteis de nata (or Belem), sardinhas...

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

Yes, a little bit. But the websites to find an accomodation are really usefull.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

About 500 euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Portuguese from Portugal is not the easiest language, but for me it is really interesting. After one month, you feel more confortable with it. There is a language course in several universities.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

Plane, but I took a bus and it was good too.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lisbon?

There are a lot of nightclubs in Lisbon, there is also Bairro Alto that is the place to be to party, but I would say that my favorite place to go out is to enjoy the Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré during the night with your friends. It feels really good and free.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lisbon?

I don't have one in particular but I would say upper you go, better and more typical it is. The ones that make dishes of the day with soup for 5 or 6 euros.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Sintra, Belem, the castle on the hill of Lisbon, a lot of Miradouros (view points)...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lisbon in the future?

Don't hesitate.
