Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

I chose Lisbon due to the promimity of the ocean, the amazing weather and medium costs compared to other european countries. Also, I had a friend that was in Lisbon with an Erasmus scholarship and she influenced me in choosing this city.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive 400 euros/month for 5 months. This amount is not enough to cover all my expenses. It mostly covers rent and a part of the transportation card.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

Definetly. I believe Portugal is one of the best countries when it comes to choosing where to go for your Erasmus.

What is the food like?

Amazing. Lots and lots of fish and great bakery products. Prices are reasonable. At the cantena you can find a social menu that is 2.40 euro (soup, bread, main course, dessert and drink).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

Yes. I booked the place on Uniplaces which has a fee. I would suggest another method of booking a room. The average price for a room is 300-350 euro depending on the neighborhood and the room facilities. In this amount expenses are usually included up to a certain amount.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

Around 700 euro/month. My rent is quite expensive-380 euro, but the average is between 300 and 350 euro with expenses included(electricity, water, internet, gas). Transportation card 36.2 euro for Coroa L, monthly sim card 10 euro. Rest is food and some traveling.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There are Portuguese language courses but the students have to pay a fee that ranges between 140 and 240 euro. It sounds similar to Spanish. I would suggest Duolingo since it's free and easy to learn.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

By plane.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Yes. Some of the museum are free on the first Sunday of the month. Would recommend Museu National do Azulejos. Lisbon is amazing regarding things to see. There are some view points called Miradouros. These are usually crammed with tourists but are definetly worth the view.
