Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

My doctoral program impose me to do a research period of 6 months somewhere in Europe. The Instituto Superior Tehnico was the optimal choice, in therms of colaboration willingness.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

6 months. 900 Euros/month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lisbon?

I was not very deep into what is meant by student lifestyle, but I know that the portuguese people are very warm.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

Yes !

What is the food like?

Good and diverse. I liked the fact that they have many dishes that includes fish:). And compared to many other important capitals, the food is quite cheep. For example, with 10 euros you can always find a decent meal.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

I had a friend who gave me some link where local people posted anouncements for renting rooms. Beginning with 200euros/month, there are many (at least) decent rooms to rent, even if they are in the central area of the city.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

I think a minum could be 600 euros.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I don;t like the portuege language, but I couls easily understand with the majority of the people in english.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

To make an pass for the metro, tram and busses. It costs around 35euros/month.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lisbon?

I liked very much The Irish Pub, placed in Cais do Sodre neighborhood.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lisbon in the future?

To make enough time to travel around. There are much cool think so see. I recomend: Sintra, Cascais, Estoril, Cabo da Roca, Nazare etc.
