Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

Because my friends live there, I wanted to learn portuguese and Lisbon is amazing beautiful place to live in for at least few months ;)

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

One semester. I received about 1400 EUR for the whole period of scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lisbon?

Don't expect to just lay down on the beach for the whole semester without any requirements from the university. There is plenty of studying and it is very helpful to know some portuguese because all the classes are in this language but if you have problem with that you can talk to the teachers and they are usually ready to help you. Still don't worry, you will have lot of time for partying and entertainment too ;)

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

I would strongly recommend the city because I think it's one of the best places in the world. I was a bit disappointed with the university because of the lack of classes in other languages than portuguese and those that I signed up for were quite boring but I guess if my portuguese was fluent I would have been able to choose much more interesting subjects.

What is the food like?

If you like fish and seafood, then you will love typical portuguese dishes :)

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

No, I found the apartment on the website bquarto.pt

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

The cost of a single room in a decent district is about 300 EUR per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is not very easy so don't expect to catch it in one month. There are language courses in the University but it's better to start studying the languege before scholarship/

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

By plane. Lufthansa usually have best prices.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lisbon?

Bairro alto and clubs like Urban Beach ;)

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lisbon?

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are plenty of places to see that you will find in any travel guide.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Lisbon in the future?
