Why did you choose to go to Lisbon, Portugal?

Portugal had the most beautiful landscape of the countries i could choose from and since Lisbon has direct access to the ocean, it was obvious that I was going to spend my erasmus semester there.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

From august 2011-january 2012 which is 5+ months and as i remember i got 300 euros per month. This covered the house rental so i spent a lot from my pocket money too.

What is the student lifestyle like in Lisbon?

Barrio Alto-beach-Barrio Alto-beach. Travel to Madeira (if you are spoiled, to Açores) and you cant be fed up with that.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Lisbon to other students?

It's a must!

What is the food like?

I cooked every day, the hungarian cuisine is way better.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Lisbon?

Nope, it was pretty easy to find one.

How much does it cost to live in Lisbon?

I would say if you party hard and travel a lot whith an average flat is around 800-1000€.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I applied to the EILC course, so i did know the basics in portuguese which seemed to be enough.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Lisbon from your city?

Ryanair started to provide flights from Vienna, but from Budapest it is quite expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Lisbon?

Barrio Alto for sure.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Lisbon?

There is an illegal chinese restaurant quite close to Martin Moniz. And i loved Pasteis de Belem.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Try to travel around, you ll find a lot. The city is beautiful itself, fado music, buildings, belem. All of them are breathtaking.
