Leuven Christmas Markets have always been "a must" for me. After my erasmus year, I came back there twice to see them!
During my erasmus year, the markets were mainly in Ladeuzeplein, and I used to live in a kot right in front of it. The view from my window was spectacular every day, and that month was just great! I will attach the picture at the end of this post.
Every year there is something difference, they either change the location or add something new. Last year it was amazing, there was a ferris wheel and other games, right in front of the famous city library in Ladeuzeplain. In front, after some food stands, a ice rink! Then most of the markets were in the Stads park, near the lake, where was also built a restaurant, creating an amazing scenography of lights and reflections.
The products sold in the markets are among the best ones I have ever seen: aritsanal clothes as well as jewlery, Christmas souvenirs and art.
Food is also great, you may find a lot of bratwurst stands and, of course, glhuwein! The lights, the atmosphere, is just amazing in Leuven during Christmas. You must definitely chek them out next december!
