What is it like to live in Hannover? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Hannover is the capital city of Lower Saxony of Germany. It is a very beautiful city which offers many activities and sights. The Maschsee is one of the famous places visited by tourists, but by natives too. There are events like the "Maschseefest". Near by the Maschsee there is the new town hall. It is a famous place for many bridals to make beautiful photos.

What is the student lifestyle like in Hannover?

I live in Hannover, but I study in Hildesheim, so I can´t tell you how the student livestyle in Hannover is. But I know that the university exists of different campus and that the university is very big in comparison to the universiry in Hildesheim.

How much does it cost to live in Hannover?

If students decide to live in the center of Hannover, it could be expensive. But I live with my parents, so I have no experience concerning the prices of flats.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hannover? Is there any advice you can give?

I think that everywhere is difficult to find a suitable accomodation, but all of my friends who live alone, are very happy about there decision living in Hannover.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There is a big choice of different food: German, Italian, Turkish, Vietamese, Chinese, Russian food and what ever. I don´t have that one special food. I like almost everything to eat.

What places would you recommend visiting in Hannover?

Two places that I recommend before are the Maschsee and the new town hall. Herrenhäuser Gärten or the Georgengarten are also very nice yards. On some days there are also events like the competition of firework displays of different nations. Unfourtunaley I didn´t see it, but everyone said that it is worth. The zoo, the state opera, sea life or the Schloss Marienburg (a famous castle) are intersting places for visiting.

Is it good to eat out in Hannover? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

I like to have breakfast at Mezzo or Extrablatt. Both restaurants are near by the central railway station of Hannover. At Mezzo there is a good cost-performance ratio and Extrablatt (no every Extrablatt) offers buffet. Tante Käthe is also recommendable, but more expensive because its focus is on bio products. Alternatives for lunch are for example Vapiano, L'Osteria (pizza), Extrablatt, Extract (one of my favourite), Dean & David and Kirin (Chinese Buffet).

Is the nightlife good in Hannover? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is good. One of my favourite clubs is Havanna with two floors, one with reggeaton and the other one with R'n'B.

What advice would you give future students heading to Hannover?

Come to Hannover and enjoy it!
