It was 7 months and I did receive 230€ per month, enough to pay my rent.

Absolutely!

I'm Italian and I'm picky eater. The food was not bad.

No. The International Office of the Leibniz University helped me to find an accommodation.

500€ per month is the minimum, but If you pay attention you can save more.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

German has an easy grammar but it's really hard to learn. The University gives Language Courses.
