What is it like to live in Cork? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Cork is full of good restaurants, bars and shops. The best thing about Cork is its size - if you're looking for everything you need within walking distance to each other, Cork is the place! There is friendly people.
What is the student lifestyle like in Cork?
Good. There are lots of students, with many living in the city centre and near the colleges. There is always a good atmosphere on nights out.
How much does it cost to live in Cork?
I live at home so cannot say. But from what I know of friends it is a very affordable city to live in as a student.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cork? Is there any advice you can give?
No, not as difficult as other bigger cities like Dublin.
What places would you recommend visiting in Cork?
You should visit:
- Fitzgerald's Park
- Cathedral
- Camden Wharf/Shandon Street area
- University College Cork
- English Market
- Triskel Arts Centre
- The Docks
Is it good to eat out in Cork? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There is a good range of different types of restaurants. Mostly affordable restaurants (mid-price range):
- Scoozi (European)
- Yuan Ming Yuan (Chinese)
- Ramen, Aroi (cheap Asian street food)
- Cafe Mexicana, Burritos and Blues (Mexican)
- Iyers (traditional indian)
Is the nightlife good in Cork? Where is good to go?
It's ok. There are lots of pubs but not many clubs. Clubs tend to be very similar with regards to music, crowd etc. Some good places:
- Franciscan Well, Bierhaus (good selection of craft beers)
- Edison (cocktails)
- The Mutton Lane
- Old Oak
