Why did you choose to go to Cluj-Napoca, Romania?
Some friends came to Cluj-Napoca for Erasmus about 4 years ago and they told us great things about the city. I guess that's the main reason.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
4 months and we received 1170 euros.
What is the student lifestyle like in Cluj-Napoca?
Me and my other friends don't know many students in Cluj-Napoca because we are working in the hospital as nursing students.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Cluj-Napoca to other students?
Yes, I would! It's a great city.
What is the food like?
The food is really good. I've eaten in some good restaurants and I've enjoyed every single meal.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Cluj-Napoca?
It was kind of difficult to find an apartment for 4 person but my buddy from the university helped us a lot and we found one really good in 3 days.
How much does it cost to live in Cluj-Napoca?
It depends on the things that you do and the places you go. Anyway, it's around 300 euros per month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
The language has some similarities to mine (Portuguese), so I know some words and I can understand some things in a conversation but I can't speak.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Cluj-Napoca from your city?
Only plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Cluj-Napoca?
Piezisa is a street with many cool bars. In the Piata Unirii there are some good bars too. To dance you have Euphoria, Noa, After Eight, Janis, My Way, Diesel, Caro Vintage Club, Flying Circus, The Shelter.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Cluj-Napoca?
Piazetta, Lunchbox, Camino.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
I have not visited any yet.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Cluj-Napoca?
Bring money and prepare the liver.
