Hello Bristol
Before arriving Bristol (when I was in Vietnam)
I did some research on the above websites and decided to stay in a homestay before finding my own room. It was really fast to get in touch with people who offer rooms in homestay.com. The price in homestay and airbnb seem to be not so different in the UK but it is required to verify numbers with airbnb.
Here is the process that I got contacts from homestay:
- Create an account
- Create my trip with dates and how many nights to stay
- Send message to people who you would like to stay in their homes
- Choose the options to let others contact you
I got contacted by some people and they were very kind to offer me some advice. I couldn’t make the deposit to homestay because my card was not working
Before arriving Bristol (when I was in London)
I didn’t hear from anyone in Homestay that I had contacted before. Therefore, I decided to book a bed in a hostel. I would recommend to stay in the hostel if you come for travelling.
In Bristol
Like minded people in the lovely hostel
I found out that the majority of people stay in the hostel have same plan like me which is finding their own accommodation. I met Lorenz who is a super intelligent student who is studying philosophy with Erasmus scholarship. He gave me information about the orientation session in school, buses and sites to look for accommodation.
I met Lose, a super social Chile guy, who came to me and Lorenz to start a humour conversation.
The law of attractions on the bus
I decided to go to school first to get supported before I would do research by myself. I didn’t have anything for lunch yet so I decided to get fast food – a small piece of pizza- which was not happening to me at in Vietnam but sometimes in Europe.
While I was biting the pizza, I heard a voice said “You are so healthy for it”. There was a second I was confused “Is it my inner voice?” but it was not. A man in the age of 40 smiled at me and repeated “It is not for you”.
It was a wonderful feeling that I said to him immediately “ Thank you. Yes, my body doesn’t like it. I will try to just eat as healthy as I normally do”. We started a warm conversation and he asked me where I was heading to. When I mentioned my university campus he felt unfamiliar and started using phone to check it.
A warm voice was raised to tell us where the campus was. Another lovely lady who was seating in 2 rows behind us smiled while talking to us. I found that she is a PhD student in my school and we started chitchat.
She gave me contact point of a black lady who has a room for renting. I contacted the lady and made an appointment to see the room. Everything happened in 10 minutes.
I didn’t make it to see the house that day because I had to go to my Coaching meetup in the evening after school.
The law of attractions in school
I got another contact from Student union
The law of attractions
I decided to pay to become premium member in easyroom.com to get more contacts from more owners of the house.
And it was in the middle of the night after I suddenly woke up. I even dreamed about finding the accommodation.
I woke up and went to the laptop and saw all the websites with different messages that I sent to different people. I got message from Epic – a travel agency in Easyroom- I got an appointment to see the house at that afternoon.
At the same time I got a call from Malc to see a room in his house. He confirmed that I could come to see it right away. I was struggling with the bus and finally got to Epic’s house then Malc’s house.
I chose to stay in Malc’s house.
It turned out that Malc’s house is next to the place that I chose to organize my first meetup as well as the post office that I need to pick up my Visa.
Malc was super nice to just take 200P desposit and 375P for everything. He offered to drive me to bring luggage from the hostel to his house.
I had my own room after 1 night arriving Bristol. And I couldn’t say how much thankful I feel to Malc, to life because the room is just the right one for me to work and do yoga.
On the second day arriving Bristol, I found my own room..
