The Learning Agreement Odyssey

Hey again!

As everyone knows, one of the most complicated things for everyone about doing an Erasmus year is the famous Learning Agreement or its equivalent. Yes, that contract brings us down the street of bitterness and gives us such a headache because completing it is anything but easy.

One day Nuria, Claudia and I, the three girls that are going together to Salzburg from my university, met up and we spent an entire afternoon going through the various paper work and the famous Learning Agreement, choosing all of the subjects and making the necessary changes to reach the required credits; a task which was anything but brief as before choosing the subjects you had to know a little bit about them so you were not to throw yourself into the unknown and choose the wrong thing. However, at last, after a whole afternoon we seem to have done it!

Once this was done the most important part still remained: that our coordinator would accept and sign it! And here is where we had the real odyssey because our dear coordinator was missing. We went to his office and he wasn't there, we went back another day on which he supposedly had to be there and a co-worker told us that he hadn't been to the university that day and wasn't answering his emails either, which caused havoc because the forms had to be sent to the University of Salzburg by a given date. Finally, third time lucky and after a while waiting, he signed all of our documents and luckily there weren't any glitches!

So once he signed the papers, without any problems, we sent them as soon as possible to Salzburg and luckily they responded pretty quickly with a letter that explained important information (like the day we had to be there for the orientation week, missing documents... ) and we sent the missing documentation. A few days later we began to worry again because we hadn't received a reply from the Austrian university after weeks of having sent it all. Finally we were sent the acceptance letter! So, with great joy on our part, we had been officially accepted!

It was fortunate that with all of these procedures and despair, we lived together because everything is better with company!

Regarding my Learning Agreement, the classes that I will do there are very varied as I will study the entire international program for Erasmus students and some other classes that I have chosen like English, sport, nutrition and music. However, I will be able to speak to you all a little better about my classes in a few months, when I will have started them and will be able to speak more knowledgeably.

Now we have to start looking at flights or other means of transport to get there, so I will report anything new when I have something. :)
