Vegan treats

Having many vegan friends, I have picked up some delicious recipees that are ideal for those days that you want a snack, but don't feel like eating meat again. So, I will write down some of them for you to know.

Here's the first:
Ingredients:

  • Corn Wafers (gluten free)

  • one tomato

  • one small onion

  • salt

  • vinegar

  • a couple of lettuce leafs

  • one carrot

  • oregano

  • olive-oil

That snack doesn't even need to be cooked. You put some corn wafers on a plate. Chop the tomato and the onion to small pieces and add them on top of the wafers. Add salt and oregano. Add some olive oil -although I usually eat it oil-free, as the tomato makes it juicy and the oil is not necessary. Then chop the lettuce and the carrot and put them on the side. Put salt and vinegar on them. Your snack is ready!
2nd treat's ingredients: GUACAMOLE

  • 2 avocados (that have been left some days, so that they have gotten soft)

  • A finely chopped onion

  • One medium tomato, chopped into small cubes

  • 1 chopped chili

  • the juice of half a lemon

  • a few leaves of fresh coriander

  • salt

  • serve it on: bread, breadsticks or nachos

This is a great snack to serve at parties. Most supermarkets also sell ready-made guacamole, but I think that it's much better to make it on your own. It's really easy and it tastes better when it's home-made. First of all, I should warn you to leave the avocado for the end of the recipee -otherwise, it will get black in no time. Cut the tomato in cubes, but make sure you have removed each seeds first. Then, chop the onion, the chili and the coriander finely. Mix everything together. Then, remove the skin from the avocados and smash them -you can do it with a fork or spoon, it's easy when the avocados are soft. Add the smashed avocado to the mix and then put salt, as well as the lemon juice. Put the mix in the fridge for an hour and your guacamole is ready.

3rd treat's ingredients: appetizer from Luxembourg

  • a yoghurt

  • some olive-oil

  • oregano

  • salt

  • pepper

  • serve it with bread: ideally, a baguette

I learned about this snack from a friend of mine, during my erasmus. I also ate it several times in dinners and stuff and now that I am back home, I usually prepare it for my friends, because it is extremely easy to make, but also really tasty.

You take the yoghurt and blend it, so that it gets softer like a cream. Then, you put some salt and pepper to it and mix it again. Afterwards, you should put some oregano on top of the yoghurt and 1-2 spoonfuls of olive oil. Do not mix it -serve it as it is. The olive oil is thick, so it will stay on top of the yoghurt and, if you take some with a spoon, you will get both “layers”. Serve it with bread on the side, so that your friends can serve it on bread. It is really delicious. It's a bit like Greek tzatziki (a recipee I'll write soon), only it has a lighter, more plain taste.
