Shrimp Creamy Pasta
New recipes weekly
I have often been told by people close to me that i am quite the expert in cooking Italian pasta . To tell you the fact i have only one year of experience in the kitchen but in my weekly menu there is always a day for pasta . Me and my mom we are truly addicted in eating spaghetti or penne so when i first started cooking i tried every week a different type of pasta until i become a so called ''pasta expert'' .

Shrimp Pasta with cream sauce
So let's get started with the first recipe which is going to be the shrimp pasta with cream sauce . I bought my ingredients in Turkish supermarket called Migros and Carrefour and the groceries from the street bazaar . I will mention as well the price for each if them .
Ingredients :
- Penne from Barilla ( i always use this brand for pasta , is number one in Italy ) Price : 1.75 TL
- Extra virgin olive oil ( from Carrefour ) Price : 9 TL
- Butter ( Turkish brand Ulker ) Price : 2.65 TL
- Bell pepper ( from bazaar ) Price: 4 TL per kg.
- Shrimps already cleaned ( Migros ) 15 TL
- Parmesan Reggiano ( original from Italy ) aprox 40 euros
- Cream ( Migros ) 4.25 TL
- Parsley 1TL
- Spring onion 3 TL
- Garlic 2-3 gloves 2 TL
Spices i used :
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Oregano
- Paprika
Step by step :
- First step is to bring the water to boil and add the pasta for aprox. 10 minutes according to your package instructions . Me all the time i check them meaning i pick one and tried it or there is another thing , they say you just need to pick up the pasta and throw it on the wall , if it's sticking than is cooked . Well i can say i tried that one or two times but my mom was not so happy about it. Add plenty of salt into the water . Stir frequently !
For this particularly recipe i used penne but you can as well use spaghetti.
- Next step is to cut one by one every single vegetable starting with the spring onion and garlic and then the red bell pepper .
- Take out the shrimps from the cup and mix them with salt , black pepper and paprika , not so much though , very lightly . Leave them for 5 minutes or so .
- Now we will start cooking them one by one . First add a pan on the fire with 3 table spoons olive oil . When oil is hot enough add the shrimps and cook them aprox. 3 minutes turning them from one side to another constantly.
After cooked remove the shrimps from the pan into a basket or anything available .
- In the oil left from the shrimps add one big spoon of butter and let it melt . Add the spring onion first , cook it for couple of minutes after add the garlic and then cook one minute more . The fire volume should be minim and on the small one in front .
- Next step is adding the red pepper and cook all together for 2 minutes or so . Also add the salt, black pepper and paprika . Just with your hands little bit i always put by instinct i never measure it.
- After you add the spices and mix them add the cream , i did not add all my package just half because i was cooking for only one person . But make sure to add all which is around 200ml if you cook for 2 or 3 persons .
- Leave it on the fire about 2 minutes or until is getting a bit creamy , after add the parmesan reggiano as in my first picture about 2 or 3 table spoons . The parmesan will make it creamy in case your cream is still light. Mix them all together then add the oregano and maybe a bit more salt and black pepper . Even though they say the black pepper you should add it only after the pasta is in the plate , on top , but i only do that for Carbonara . So how you want!
- Add the shrimps which we already cooked before and let it for 1 minute until it absorb the flavors .
- Until now the pasta is already cooked and drained and now is the time to add it in our texture and mix it good . Leave it for 1 minute or so so it will get full taste and flavor .
- Chop fresh parsley and add on top and mix lightly .
Now our dish is ready to be served . Place it in the plate and add fresh parmesan on top , do not mix it !
Serve it like me with my go to drink summer Red Bull edition or cold Coke . Pasta is served , bon apettit !
Stay tune for the next pasta recipe coming up next week !
