Photo recipe: Tortilla de patatas
Tortilla de patatas is Spanish kind of potato omelette. You can have it on its own, with tomato, salad or inside bocadito (sandwich). In this article I am gonna share with you super easy recipe that I learned in Huelva so that you can prepare this delicious food yourself.
Ingredients
- 3 small potatoes
- 3 eggs
- 1 onion (chopped)
- salt & pepper
- oil (sunflower or olive oil) approximately 5 table spoons
1. Peel and cut potates in small, rather thin slices. They will cook faster like this. Sprinkle them with salt. In a non-stick pan heat the oil. Add potatoes and let them cook. Stir occasionally. It will take around 15 minutes to cook them. You will know they are done when they are soft and golden.
2. In another pan saute onion. Sauting means to heat a bit of oil, add chopped onion and cook it until it is tender and golden brown.
3. In a bowl whip the eggs. Add a bit of salt and pepper. When potatoes and onion are done, add them into the bowl. Make sure you get rid of excessive oil from the potatoes. Mix it thorougly.
4. Pour this mixture into a non- stick pan and cook from both sides. Cook first side for about 10- 15 minutes over the medium heat, then flip the tortilla and cook it for another 4 minutes.
That´s it. Buen provecho!
