Second week has come and i have returned with my second pasta recipe as promised. This week is all about tuna pasta which i actually cooked yesterday of course in my Erasmus kitchen here in Elazig , Turkey.
For those who don't know yet , i will have a 6 week pasta recipes marathon , week after week , i will showcase the best recipes i have been cooking for the past year . To tell you the truth i am just cooking for a bit over an year but i have been told i am a ''pasta expert''. Step by step i will show you guys how i prepare this dishes and i hope at least one person can learn from me or just still ideas.
So let's get started !
Week 2
This week is all about the tuna pasta , i have been cooking this recipe for one year just but is my boyfriend's favorite for sure . Last year on this time i was just experimenting recipes until i said why not try adding tuna into the pasta , it may work out and it did . So today i will show you how to cook this creamy and tasty dish .
Ingredients :
- Penne
- Green and red bell pepper
- Garlic or onion ( whatever you have in the kitchen )
- Olive oil
- Parsley
- Parmesan
- Cream (200ml)
- Olives ( optional )
- White pumpkin
- Tuna conserve
Spices :
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Oregano
Step by step recipe :
- First thing first is to bring water to boil , add plenty of salt and cook the penne according to the package instructions , around 10 minutes until they are done .
I always and forever use the Barilla pasta , my favorites are by far the penne and the spaghetti . In Turkey one package cost 1.75 TL so is extremely cheap and is the best pasta brand in Italy .
- Second step cut all the veggies into small pieces , the white pumpkin peel it off first and cut into squares . I used 2 gloves garlic also chopped in small pieces .
- Next step is to place the pan on the fire with little bit olive oil , around 3 spoons . After is heated place the white pumpkin leave it or 1 minute or so and add also the garlic for about 1 extra minute .
- Add both green and red bell pepper and saute for 2-3 minutes and then add one by one the spices , salt , black pepper and plenty of oregano . Mix and leave for some minutes .
- Before you add the cream make sure you add the olives , i prefer the ones with red pepper inside and no seed but this time around i couldn't find so i got this one instead but i did not take off the seed , it's too much work. Of course you can do it of you have patience or just use any type of olives , make sure they are not too marinated because it can mess up the taste .
- Saute all veggies together for 2 minutes or so and then add the all cream . Mix well until the cream is well incorporated and leave it on the fire for about 3-4 minutes .
- Now you can add the tuna conserve and mix very good until it's small pieces and a white sauce texture is coming up, about 1-2 minutes . Then you can close the fire and add the chopped parsley and let it to rest for 1 minute before adding the pasta .
- Add the pasta and mix it very well until all the cream is incorporated within the penne. Leave for 1 minute .
- Prepare the parmesan and once you add on the plate place it on top of the pasta without mixing. It will give a great aroma to the dish . I always use Parmesan Reggiano from Italy which is around 40 euros a piece.
Sorry for my chopped plate .
Now you can enjoy a dinner for two with this amazing home cooked pasta dish . Simple and delicious .
And a close up of the dish . It looks amazing but trust me it taste ten thousand times better!
Stay tune for new pasta recipe coming up next week . If i am not wrong i will cook the green pasta or pesto spaghetti whatever you want to call it . You can also check my first post about the shrimp creamy pasta and check there the weekly calendar for each recipe.
Bon Apettit !
