Monte Cristo sandwich
Have you ever tried a Monte Cristo sandwich?
NO?
Oh, my dearest poor thing! How fortunate you are, since you’ve got to read this short and undeservingly plain post about one of the most magnificent sandwich ever (long loved by Americans and British people).
So let me give you some valuable information as for how to become ultimately happy… (sorry, I meant how to cook it, surely)) .
Here are the ingredients you need:
Two slices of cooked ham trimmings (they are cheaper, but tastes the same)
4 slices of mature cheddar (Swiss comes in the original recipe, bit it’s just harder to get, so I replaced it with my old favorite Cheddar)
1 egg (beat it separately in the bawl)
2 slices of fresh fruit bread
No mayo or mustard (cheese and ham plus fruit bread is a perfect combination of sweet and savory so it doesn’t need anything else to my taste)
Here is what you need to do:
First, put 2-3 drops of olive oil in the frying pan and preheat it a little bit.
Then put 2 slices of cheese on every slice of bread and 2 pieces of ham in between them. Then combine two pieces of sandwich and dip it really well into the egg. Put it in the pan and fry it gently from both sides. When the cheese starts melting and the egg is there to soak the bread and make a beautiful light brown roast, you are good to go! Just cut your sandwich into half so that you could see what’s inside and indulge into this pleasure!
Bon appetite! Monte Cristo rocks!
