The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about this recipe, which we don’t usually use while cooking the potatoes, however, I tried this one like that and people loved it in my family, so that, if I’m cooking the potatoes, then I usually prepare them that way and everyone likes them, so that I want to share the preparation of these potatoes with you , too.

It’s very easy and cheap and it doesn’t really need much of the ingredients and it’s a pretty good one, if you are hungry and you want to eat something delicious.

So that, let me tell you about these fried potatoes, which kind of resemble the Mexican potatoes, however, they are a little bit different, if you want to know the truth.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes, 4 medium
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Mexican potato spices

Preparation process

Well, the preparation process is very easy and though it takes some time, it’s still not that big of a deal, because every dish takes some time, you know.

First of all, you should peel the potatoes and wash them and then comes the cutting process. I usually cut them into pretty thin slices, so that they will be cooked faster and very easily. And, besides, the spices will be more into it that way, than when the potato pieces are large.

So that, when you have peeled and washed the potatoes, you can slice them on long edge into pretty thin slices, and they may be 2 or 3 milimetres wide, I guess. then, you can slice them on short edges in such thin slices, too. I do that on the chopping plate, while others take the slices into their hands and slice them that way. Well, slicing them on the cutting board is pretty much easier, if you ask me.

Anyways, when you have sliced all the potatoes and the pieces of them are pretty good looking and thin, you can take the frying pan and pour some oil on it and have it on a high heat on gas.

Cooking potatoes need much oiland you should take that into account, if you want to have some good fried potatoes and not the burned and uncooked ones.

When the frying pan is hot, you can put the potato pieces into it and spread them all over. You can also have then added the salt and then the Mexican potatoes spice. You know, that spice is sold in small packages in the large supermarkets and it kind of costs about 2 laris or more, I guess. however , it’s pretty much of the amount and you can have it for a long time. However, if you can’t find the Mexican potatoes spice, you can have it prepared yourself.

Well, you will need some paprika and oregano and garlic cloves squashed or garlic powder. You will also need some mild chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper and that’s kind of it. You can add those things to the potatoes into the frying pan and have them mixed together.

You should know, that it’s not good if you stir the potatoes pretty often, because that way they will break and not be the potato pieces, but become a potato puree, I guess.

So , after some time of cooking, when the potatoes are kind of cooked and they have some golden colour on them, you can put the lid on the frying pan and turn the heat down and have them like that for a couple of minutes and then you can just turn it off and wait for a couple of minutes, so that the potatoes will become baked or something like that and they will be soft. That’s how I like my fried potatoes, if you want to know the truth.

Well, after those couple of minutes, you can take the lid off and have the potatoes served. They are very delicious just the way they are or you can just eat them with cheese or ketchup or some ham or sausages and it’s very tasty, I must say.

So that, it was my fried potatoes in Mexican spice and I hope, that you will prepare this dish and you will like it.

Enjoy your cooking!
