Turkey is a popular tourist destination, and an ideal place for international students due to the rapid improvement in the quality of higher education. There are currently about 650,000 foreign students. This number points to the growing importance of the country as a destination for higher education, and there are some cities that are famous for its distinguished university.

Studying in Turkey

The main motivations for studying in Turkey include access to quality, inexpensive education as well as scholarship opportunities that also pay a monthly allowance, covering accommodation and education fees, health insurance and travel expenses.
 
Cost of studying in Turkey:
The tuition fee you pay depends on where you choose to study, and in what language, degree programs offered in Turkish tend to be cheaper than those offered in English. You should expect to pay between 1600 and 9000 TL per year to obtain a degree from Public University.
For private universities with average fees of 110,000 TL, there are many scholarships available for international students, including some tuition waivers, monthly allowances, and health insurance coverage.
The cost of living depends on where you choose to live. Big cities are more expensive than small cities, and smaller towns.On average, the budget should be between 1,000 and 1,800 TL per month.These include accommodation, food and drink, you should also have a budget between 500L and 800 turkish lira per semester for books, administrative fees.
 
Universities in Turkey
There are 183 institutions of higher learning in Turkey, 109 of which are public universities, and the rest 74 are private non-profit institutions; you can get bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
There are two universities in Turkey in the list of the top 500 universities in the world for 2019: Koç University in Istanbul, and Bilkent University in Ankara, there are 8 other Turkish universities in the top 1000 universities.
The majority of these major universities in Turkey are located either in Ankara or Istanbul. In Ankara there are Middle East Technical University, Bilkent University and Hacettepe University, while Istanbul includes Bogazici University, Koç University, Sabanci University and Istanbul Technical University.

Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and has a history dating back thousands of years.
Istanbul Technical University and Bogazici University are among the best universities in Istanbul which came in 8th and 10th in EECA rankings, respectively.
Koç University is 12th, while Sabanci University is 18th.

Bogazici University
The first American university to be established outside the United States, located near the Bosphorus, the language of instruction is English, and the university maintains strong links to the American higher education system.

Koç University
One of the oldest institutions of higher education in Turkey, Koç University offers a world-class learning experience, with 22 undergraduate programs, 32 graduates, and 18 doctoral programs, and currently teaches about 5,500 students.

- Ankara

Ankara is the capital city of Turkey, and its second largest city, with a large number of students.
The top two universities in Ankara are the Middle East Technical University (METU), Bilkent University, and Hacettepe University among others in Ankara, as well as Gazi University and (TOBB) University of Economics and Technology.

Specialized in natural and social sciences, was established in 1956 to exercise a vital role in the development of Turkey, the Middle East countries, and today includes about 31,000 students.

- Izmir
Izmir
, Turkey's third largest city, known as the “Pearl of the Aegean” for its stunning location overlooking the Aegean Sea, Izmir has a relaxed, liberal appearance. It is home to the University of Ege, which ranked 89th in the EECA rankings, Dokuz Eylul University, and Izmir Yuksk Technological Institution ( IYTE).

- Adana
The other student city is Adana, Turkey's fifth most populous city, and home to Cukurova University, which ranked 171-180 in the EECA rankings.
Regardless of its classification, the university's location in southern Turkey makes it very attractive. It is located on the east coast of Seyhan Dam Lake, the university facilities include dining halls among pine trees.

Some other cities
Among the other best universities in Turkey are the Anadolu University of Eskisehir, one of the largest and most affordable Turkish cities, courses are taught in Turkish, English, French, and German, and Suleyman Demirel University of Sparta is one of the largest universities in Turkey in terms of number of students.

- Antalya
Akdeniz University
in Antalya actively promotes the participation of international students, through programs such as the Mevlana Exchange Program, the Bologna Process and the International Student Exchange Association for technical expertise.
In most of these locations, many locals can speak English, making it relatively easy for international students to settle in, even without proficiency in Turkish.
