Student Life in Turkey
Studying in Turkey is a great experience, and you'll discover it yourself if you choose an Asian-European destination for your undergraduate or postgraduate years.
With regard to accommodation, there are several options available to the student:
1- University dormitory: Most Turkish universities provide accommodation for students for a certain fee, and these fees are somewhat high, and provide the student half-board in addition to other services such as Internet service, laundry, etc., and the price of housing varies from university to university.
2- Student housing: Due to the large number of students coming to Turkey, the so-called student dormitories have recently spread.
3- Sharing a flat: A group of students rent a house and share accommodation.
Also to provide some information about learning Turkish language:
There are many institutes that offer language instruction, including those available at universities (TOMER Center) or private institutes. Turkish municipalities also offer free language classes for foreign students. The student needs between 6 and 8 months to complete all levels of Turkish. It is a relatively easy language with at least 30% Arabic words and 10% English words making it relatively easy for Arab students.
As a student living in Turkey, especially if you live in a major city, you will not find it difficult to find places to explore or activities to do. Music lovers will find many genres, from folkloric to classical and pop, hip hop and jazz as well as everything in between. Cities are full of vitality, and Turkey hosts a number of international music festivals each year.
While movie lovers may be aware of the country's thriving local filmmaking industry, they will find good companionship as going to cinemas is a popular activity in Turkey, where the latest Hollywood films are widely shown.
In terms of everyday life, you'll find that you are good at finding a good kebab restaurant, bargaining over prices in the market, preparing or at least enjoying Turkish coffee, or even challenging the locals in backgammon, which is popular in Turkish cafes.
