What is it like to live in Ankara? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is great even if it is full of downward and upward moments!

How much does it cost to live in Ankara?

Nowadays, it is started from 250$ and goes upward for one month. Actually, with 250$ you can have student life. I mean, I can pay for your; flat rent, electricity bill, gas bill, water bill, and internet bill. At the end, you have a little money to expend in transportation and your meal, but do not forget that in this situation you can suffer with leak of money. If you rise this amount to 350$ you can live here as a normal student. however, as much as you can expend in here, you can live here in very good condition!

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Ankara? Is there any advice you can give?

If you have acquaintance in here, it will give you great release. However, without acquaintance you also can find whatever you want after a while!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Kabab (grilled meat) is the best, but also fish is very delicious!

Shopping centers generally are the best place which you can set yourself free from feeling that you are living in abroad!

    Hi,
First of all, it is better for you to rent a flat near your university, but in recent years flats located near universities became very expensive, and it made student to go little far from their universities. In this case, you should find places near subway stations or bus stops which goes to your university directly; also, you need to calculate transportation fee on your expenditure because if it cost very much, it is good to rent a house near your university. Based on my experiences, Dikman and Sokullu is very good to you because it is near your university and also it is near downtown and many other activities.

Until here I consider money, but if money is not problem to you, you can live in Cankaya which is mostly occupied (not all parts) by rich and wealthy people.

I forget to mention dormitories. There are two kind of them; private and government. private are expensive and it is better to rent a house instead of living in private dorms. Government dorms are affordable based on money, but you cannot find privacy if you want and usually they are overcrowded!

The pros of living near your university; 1. you can have your lunch in the university, and your can make dinner in home. in this situation you need to prepare meal for once a day and believe me after a while preparing food becomes very hard task to do; in addition it prevents you from starvation. 2. You can study in university's library, but do not expect very quit place because in some places library culture never regarded.

Living a little far from your university (Sokullu and dikman, or Golbasi but I do not recommend Golbasi). You can still have this advantages and also, you can easily go to the city or wherever you want to go because do not forget you need to have social life in here too!
