Pauline's Erasmus experience in Zaragoza, Spain

Why did you choose to go to Zaragoza, Spain?

Because I wanted to explore Spain as I'd never been before. And because I wanted to see the sun, of course!

How long is the scholarship? How much money did you receive to help you with living costs?

It lasts 9 months, and we receive 150 euros each month. I only have the erasmus scholarship (1350 euros for the university year)

What's the student lifestyle like in Zaragoza?

There's a good atmosphere, the people are very nice and go out a lot.

Would you recommend the city and University of Zaragoza to other students?

Of course!

What is the food like?

There's tapas, but the food isn't that different from what you get in France

Was it hard to find accommodation in Zaragoza?

No, it was very easy (I found mine thanks to an ad on Segundamano.es)

How much does it cost to live in Zaragoza?

Depends on what you're renting. I pay 230 euros + electricity/water/internet + 120 euros for food. The food's very cheap (compared to France)

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

I've never been to a Spanish course at the university because I already speak Spanish, and I live with 2 Spanish people (the best thing for improving your language skills).

What's the cheapest way to travel to Zaragoza from your city?

The plane (Paris-Beauvais -- Zaragoza), costs about 40 euros round trip with Ryanair.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Zaragoza?

Mile end (and the fiestas Del Pilar in October: 10 days of holiday)

What about eating out in Zaragoza? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Zaragoza?

For "typical" tapas, "El tubo", an area close to the centre.

The Provencal market (very cheap : 3.90 euros for the menu of the day) which is next to the University.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Basilica del Pilar, Aljaferia, Parque Grande, the city center.

What advice would you give future students heading to Zaragoza?

Enjoy yourselves!
