My Experience in Warsaw, Poland - by Mireia
What's it like living in Warsaw?
I love the city. I totally recommend it, and what's more, I almost stayed living there, I liked it that much. It's a very chilled place, and the people are very trustworthy and friendly.
What's the student life like in Warsaw?
Also very good - the universities usually give you Polish mentors and together with other students who speak your language, they help you to find somewhere to live and with anything else you might need.
How expensive is everyday life in Warsaw?
When I was there in 2013, a room in a shared flat right next to the metro on the outskirts of town cost you about 200 euros a month with bills included.
Did you find it hard to find somewhere to live in Warsaw? Do you have any tips for flat-hunting?
It wasn't too hard for me, as I found some guys online beforehand who were looking for flatmate. We got to know each other a bit over email and skype before I arrived in Warsaw. They came to pick me up from the airport and everything.
What's the food like in Warsaw? What are your favourite dishes?
Polish food is a bit weird. I tried a few traditional dishes and wasn't that impressed, but each to his own.
What places do you recommend visiting in Warsaw?
The city centre and the parks.
What about eating out in Warsaw? What are your favourite places?
There was a very cheap Czech restaurant near the city centre. Generally though, we shopped at the supermarket and cooked at home.
What are the best places for partying in Warsaw?
Hybrydy and Park.
Do you have any advice for future students coming to Warsaw?
Have a good time and get to know lots of people, which won't be hard. Learn a few Polish words, although it's difficult.
