Hallo. My first day in Poland was somewhat tragic and interesting. Let me start with the interesting part, when I was coming I already had a friend waiting for me at the airport (you know the struggle of landing in a new country and not having anybody to pick you and plus make it a polish country?!!) I feel in love with the buildings; they are so beautiful. Most people told me that Poland is not quite interesting because it vastily still has ancient buildings but trust me these ancient buildings are captivating. We took a taxi to one of the dormitories, Zolibro if am not mistaking, and the houses there were not as modern and not as old but there were something in between wow and a little bit more wow! Warsaw is a clean city. Now coming to the tragic part. When I left home I had secured a place with an agent, I was to pay upon my arriva, but sadly the agent gave away the apartment this meant me and my friend ( whom I forgot to mention had just sleptover at a friend's dorm) had no place to stay. So we wenton the internet and found I place we could rent for approximately $400 for 3 night. We decided to use the metro to go carry luggage from the other dormitory, worst mistake! We got lost! The dorm is around Politechnika, we got to Politechnika but for my friend remembering the way to the dorm was the problem and so to mention it was winter season. I am not a cryer but had i been one i think i would have broken down. And its hard asking the locals for direction because most of the ones we met didn't understand a single thing we said. We walked for an hour or 2 then gave up and decided to take a taxi. At this point in time we were soaking wet and cold because there was a little rain and it was so cold. We got the stuff and then went to the rented apartment, all I wanted to do was stay there and not go out. My first day in Warsaw Poland WS more nerve wrecking than interesting.

PS; if you plan on coming this side its more safer to have already secured a place to stay. And Pols are friendly, usually when you can at least speak their language so it would be good to either take a class of it in your school or from some private institutions.

Oh and never forget to buy a ticket from one of the machines in the metro stations or by the bus stops. It gets nasty when you are caught without a ticket.
