Experience in Warsaw, Poland by Veronica
What is it like to live in Warsaw? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
I just fell in love with Warsaw. I really suggest this city, of course the city is new so there are not so many monuments to see, but a lot of museums and skyscrapers! I love Warsaw and Polish people are very nice and friendly!
Trust me this city is just wonderful for the Erasmus experience, maybe you can have problem with Polish language (it's really hard), but there are people that speak English and even Spanish or German. Choose Warsaw!
What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?
The student life is just awesome! The universities are great and there are a lot of students! the Erasmus office is helpful, really helpful, and can answer all of your questions!
How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?
Warsaw is very cheap! So, you can live like a king!
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Warsaw? Is there any advice you can give?
No, it's not difficult, I found mine on a group on Facebook... just write ‘accommodation in Warsaw’ or ‘Erasmus in Warsaw’ and you can find a lot of groups with all the news about accommodation!
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
My favourite dishes are bigos! I like every kind of food, but I know that for many students (‘italiani prima di tutto’) eat is difficult. I recommend going in Nowy Świat. Here are a lot of places with every kind of food, so you can choose!
What places would you recommend visiting in Warsaw?
Actually, I'm not into museums, I've never visited one! I used to go shopping a lot to Arkadia and Złote Tarasy but there are also a lot of parks, better to visit around September-October when there is no snow!
Is it good to eat out in Warsaw? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
I used to dine at Sphinx, it's really nice and cheap... like most of the places!
Is the nightlife good in Warsaw? Where is good to go?
There are parties every night and you have a lot of choices! The ESN group organize a lot of funny trips and games and amazing parties as well! I recommend going to Klub Park on Wednesday (free beer until 2 a. m. ), Klub Riviera Remont on Tuesday (free beer until 2 a. m. ) and Klub Medyka on Thursday! You will meet a lot of Erasmus...
What advice would you give future students heading to Warsaw?
I live in Warsaw right now, so that means that I suggest this city to everyone! I could say that even if you don't like the cold and the snow (like me) this city is just perfect, and you will get used to the weather! Maybe you can start learning a little bit of Polish, it can be helpful! Go to Warsaw, future Erasmus!
