Experience in Warsaw, Poland by Tetiana
What is it like to live in Warsaw? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Actually it feels like home. You will be familiar with everything around in a very very short term. It's almost impossible not to find something that you need.
What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?
Student are hanging out very often, usually I can find lots of students in the nightclubs, students are relaxed and friendly.
How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?
As for me it is a little bit too much, especially, in comparison to other cities, but let's not forget that Warsaw is the capital of Poland, most business and tourist destinations are here, so prices match the place.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Warsaw? Is there any advice you can give?
It is not difficult, because I did find three-bedroom apartment for long term rent in few hours, on Friday, before Polish holidays, so everything is possible, if you want it. The only advice I could give is to look at the payment, sometimes owners are trying to make you pay czynsz(taxes), if you don't know this word or just not awarded about this in most cases you will pay, but actually you don't have to do that.
What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?
Polish cuisine is similar to my home country cuisine, so I like everything, especially Zyrek(soup) and Pierogi.
What places would you recommend visiting in Warsaw?
Centrum Nauki Kopernik (must-see), Stadium and old town.
Is it good to eat out in Warsaw? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, I must say it's not bad. The best cafes and restaurants are in Old town. You will be surprised, but prices in the centre of the town are not that high.
Is the nightlife good in Warsaw? Where is good to go?
Depends on tastes in music. I prefer to go to the Room13, there are many students inside almost every night.
What advice would you give future students heading to Warsaw?
Try to find Polish friends as soon as possible, they will tell you more about Warsaw and Poland.
