What is it like to live in Warsaw? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Warsaw is a capital and business city, where you can meet different people from all over the world. It is also the busiest city in Poland. The weather there is dull and it often rains. Transport is modern, but sometimes dirty. The city is grey with a post-communistic reflection, but there are quite good and interesting places. Thus, people, try to be more free and open-minded.
What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?
Despite the fact that Warsaw is a business city, it is also the city for study. There are many events for students in the universities. Many institutions provide internships for your specialization. Also, you may go abroad to have some internship. Students are going crazy on the weekends, especially on Saturday. The majority of them like to hang in different places.
How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?
It's not expensive, it's about 400-450 euro. If you live in hostel it would be quite enough for you. Food is really cheap, too.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Warsaw? Is there any advice you can give?
Not at all. Although, if you want to save money, avoid real estate agencies. Zoliborz and Bielany are the best districts: 15 minutes to downtown and not dangerous. In addition, they are very cheap.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Polish cuisine is alright, pierogi or dumplings are good. My favorite one is Bigos. Bigos is cooked of traditional meat and cabbage stew. You may taste it.
What places would you recommend visiting in Warsaw?
The Old Town is the number one, but in summer time I would recommend you to go to Lazienki Park. Wilanow Palace is quite good, too.
Is it good to eat out in Warsaw? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
The best place is in old the town and it is called Zapiecek. It's not expensive and beautiful waitress girls surround. Do not be greedy to tip waitress.
Is the nightlife good in Warsaw? Where is good to go?
There are many discos and pubs in Warsaw which are quite good for a nightlife. There is even a whole street devoted to discos and pubs, if you go out of old town you will see it. It is closer to downtown. In case, if you want to be romantic then, old town is quite suitable for nightlife, too.
What advice would you give future students heading to Warsaw?
If you have decided to study in Poland, then you are to study Polish language because not everyone speak English in Poland. Moreover, If you want to save money, avoid any real estate agencies.
