Erasmus Experience in Warsaw, Poland by Victoria
Why did you choose to go to Warsaw, Poland?
I chose Warsaw because, from the offers I had in my grade, it seemed to me the place with a culture, gastronomy, customs... much more different from mine. Besides, I was curious about the language and how I would develop with it.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
At first I only had one semester left. I receive 200 euros a month for the Erasmus scholarship plus another 200 euros a month for a national scholarship from the Spanish ministry. As I have extended my stay, the second semester is on me.
What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?
In my case, attendance to classes is compulsory, but you meet a lot of people of other nationalities and relate to different cultures. As for the rhythm of life, there is a lot of partying, many places to visit, activities to meet people... it is a rhythm of life of not stopping for a second.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Warsaw to other students?
I strongly recommend Warsaw and the SWPS University. I recommend this university, especially if you are a student of Psychology, because it has a very good prestige in the city and the country.
What is the food like?
Sincerely, I'm not a big fan of Polish cuisine. It is true that they have very rich soups and I love pierogis, but there are many other things, like coleslaw, that I hate.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Warsaw?
Yes. I came to Warsaw with nothing. I stayed in a hostel (Oki Doki Hostel) for 12 days until I found a flat. The months before I came I was looking for it, but I recommend to come without anything, because it's much easier to see the apartments, to know the areas...
