Why did you choose to go to Warsaw, Poland?

Because I have to admit I didn`t know to many things about Poland or Warsaw and it was a challenge to see if I can manage there.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

3 months. I received around 1400 euros for all 3 months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?

I think it can be really nice, because in my opinion it isn`t a very expensive city, it has a lot of beautiful places to visit and to hang out, people are really nice and I met a lot of people that know english. I think you have a lot of places where you can have fun and enjoy the city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Warsaw to other students?

About the University of Warsaw I don`t know what to say because I didn`t have the opportunity to study there, because I went to Warsaw with a practical placement, but I would definitely recomment Warsaw to those that have the opportunity to go there.

What is the food like?

Traditional polish food (pierogi, chlodnik) is very interesting, at least for me because it is diferent from what I eat in my country. Poles have good ice cream - Grycan and chocolate - Wedel, so you should try this two out (from stores or in their own cafes).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Warsaw?

Yes, and it was a bit hard to find it. So my advice is to look for a place to stay as soon as possible if you want to find something good and not too expensive.

How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?

It depends on the kind of activities that you prefer. I think that you can manage with not too many money and still have fun and visit a lot of places.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It is a hard language, but I found a lot of people that talked english so it was ok.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Warsaw from your city?

I think that by train.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Warsaw?

There are a lot of clubs and on summer you can go and drink something by the Vistula river (there is a Multimedia Fountain with lots of colourful lights on the river). You can also go to Stare Miasto and Nowy Świat Street where there are a lot of cafes, pubs or shops.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Warsaw?

Hard Rock Cafe (but it can be expensive)

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are lots of palaces (such as The Royal Palace), in the summer there are Frédéric Chopin concerts in Łazienki Park, The Old Town. I would recommend this website for more places to go in Warsaw: Warsawtour.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Warsaw in the future?

I think they should try to visit as many places as they can, maybe even outside Warsaw (Kraków, Sopot for the seaside).
