Why did you choose to go to Warsaw, Poland?

I choose Warsaw as my Erasmus city because I heard from friends that the city, life and studies here are really worth it.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I came to Warsaw as an Erasmus student for one semester (Semptember-February).

What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?

The truth is I wasn't expecting such a great quality and quantity of lifestyles. The city and the people (students especially) offer a large number of lifestyles as it is a city with a lot of international students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Warsaw to other students?

I would definitely recommend Warsaw as a city for studies mainly because of the quantity - quality of the entertainment and of its position to Europe as you can easily travel throughout Poland-Europe and east, like Baltic states & Russia.

What is the food like?

The quantity of the food is normal just like the quality. I'm not thrilled but it's ok.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Warsaw?

Yes, for me the "chapter" accomodation was really tricky, as i wasnt going to live in the dormitories and i was searching for something either in centre or close to a metro station. In general in Warsaw finding accomodation can be hard sometimes, so i recommend early searching.

How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?

In general living in Warsaw is cheap. It has a great free public transportation. trams, metro and buses with a 3 month card for 35euros.

Going out for eating is normal but if you want to cook at home then the market in Poland is cheap yes. As for the alchohol (especially beer half litre for 1euro) is really cheap.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes most of the univeristies offer language courses but i would say that the language need's some time to learn. Though i would recommend to do some language course as its going to help you with the communication and life in Poland.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Warsaw from your city?

The only option for me is by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Warsaw?

Warsaw is a big city in general, so there are many places to go out. But i would recommend the str. Mazowiecka which has many clubs and str. Nowy Swiat with many bars and pubs.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Warsaw?

If you want to try something traditional i would say Zapiecek restaurants, something more close to international tastes Sphinx and if you want good crepes its Manekin.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The city offers a lot of museums and traditional areas to visit. I would recommend the old town, Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego its the uprising museum, Centrum Nauki Kopernik there is the planetarium and Łazienki Park.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Warsaw in the future?

The only advice i would give is, of course try to experience Warsaw as much as you can but visit other cities of Poland like Krakow and Gdansk. Also consider the fact on going to another country of Europe as you can easily do so by train bus or plane. Travel and have fun!
