Why did you choose to go to Warsaw, Poland?

I choose to go to Poland because the research topic proposed to me for the Erasmus Mundus in which I am involved is very matched to my background. I was also attracted by the perspective to know a new destination, not very well known to many people.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

3 years. I did not receive money for living cost because I come from Europe, but I receive a very good salary, enough to live here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Warsaw?

You work from the early morning (in my case from 7.30 am) at least 8 hours. You end early in the afternoon, so if you want, you can manage the remaining time in other activities.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Warsaw to other students?

Yes, I would recommend the University of Warsaw (in particular the Military University of Warsaw) very strongly.

What is the food like?

You can adapt very well to the typical cuisine (ranging from soups to many meat foods) but, in any case, if you want, you can also find many foreign restaurants. Warsaw is a great capital, so no problem.

How much does it cost to live in Warsaw?

I think you can live in Warsaw, no particular excesses, with about 1000 euros per month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

In my university there aren't language courses available, but you can found it in many external institutions. One of the more difficulties is study and understanding of Polish language. But if you want, you can learn something!; )

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Warsaw from your city?

By tram, bus or train, you can but tickets for 1, 2 or 3 months

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Many places: Cultural Palace, National Museum, Jewish Museum, Museum of Resistance and so on... I suggest in particular Lakienky Park and Wilanow. So suggestive!

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Warsaw?

Do not worry if at first time you may feel lost in a city where everyone speaks a language initially incomprehensible: Warsaw (And the whole Poland) is a multiethnic city, more than you think. Once there you will realize it. And above all, you'll never be alone. There are many Erasmus students that you can know as well as many people from abroad, even from your city. Just want it. Search on this wbsite and on Facebook groups. Do not think twice. Come in Warsaw and enjoy! ;)
