Living in Volos is great! It's a beautiful and quite city -yet, it is a city- that combines the sea with the mountain (Pelion). As a result, it is a perfect tourist destination for every season - not only the summer, as it happens with the most Greek destinations.

What is the student lifestyle like in Volos?

There are many things to see and do in Volos, but it is not a city that never sleeps! There aren't as many choices as you can find in Athens, or in Thessaloniki, but there is a wide range of things that you can do, for every taste.

How much does it cost to live in Volos?

Volos in general isn't as expensive as Athens. You can find cheap apartments in good condition and you can find cheap places to have fun, as there are many students offers. Also, students, rarely need to take a cab, because Volos is ideal for bicycles.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Volos? Is there any advice you can give?

No, it's not very difficult because there are many university departments here, so there are many apartments! The demand for apartments is very high around August and September. Since the economic crisis, most owners have reduced the rent.

What places would you recommend visiting in Volos?

I would recommend a tour in the villages of Pelion, the islands Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonyssos, the region of "Palia" in Volos and of course a walk along the port, till the church of St Constantine.

Is it good to eat out in Volos? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Everyone should drink "tsipouro" or "rakomelo" and eat in a "tsipouradiko", to find out the local dishes! "Bokos" in Nea Ionia is one of the best "tsipouradika" and almost all the restaurants in the region of Palia are good.

Is the nightlife good in Volos? Where is good to go?

The nightlife offers options for those who prefer clubs and for those who want to listen to live music, or to find a quite place.

What advice would you give future students heading to Volos?
