What is it like to live in Volos? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a small city, but beautiful, not due to its architecture, but because it lies on the coastline and in front of Mount Pelion. The sea is great, full of nice beaches to swim 30 minutes-1h distance, or more, and the mountain is full of beautiful traditional villages.

What is the student lifestyle like in Volos?

Because it's a small town, it's very family like, people gather on the beach, at homes; there is also nightlife, however not intense. To rent a studio you need around 200-300 euros. The university has its own restaurant, where the food is ok. It's a nice place for students.

How much does it cost to live in Volos?

200-300 rent of a studio, 200-400 to live, depending on the lifestyle.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Greek cuisine. Several plates. Volos is known for tsipoyradika, in Greek Τσιπουράδικα. Drink tsipouro and 1-2 small plates with (sea) food. Yummy!

What places would you recommend visiting in Volos?

The mountain, the museums, the beach, and the park.

Is the nightlife good in Volos? Where is good to go?

Quite a few alternative bars: Favela, Manitou, Posh, Pasatempos. Koumoundourou street has more trendy bars.

What advice would you give future students heading to Volos?

To enjoy their time there, make loads of excursions, to the mountain, Meteora, Lake near Karditsa.
