Erasmus Experience in Vilnius, Lithuania by Lena
Why did you choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania?
To experience a part of Europe I know little about.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
5 Months. 300 Euros a month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?
It really depends on which university you attend and whom you hang out with. Some like the party life others like traveling around, but you have definitely a lot of time to do whatever you want.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Vilnius to other students?
Depending on the motivation someone has, I would recommend it or not.
What is the food like?
Food is fine. You can find something for every taste.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vilnius?
No.
How much does it cost to live in Vilnius?
A room in a shared apartment is around 200 Euros, but can be more or less. I have not heard good things about student homes as they seem to be overpriced.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
The language is pretty complex and not so easy to learn but someone who likes to study languages has definitely a chance to learn it. Usually you can find courses at your university.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vilnius from your city?
Easiest would be by plane, most economic would be by foot (good luck with that).
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vilnius?
Again it really depends what music you are into. There is a range of places with very different styles from Peronas to Salento.
