Why did you choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania?

I consider it a little bit... "closed" or difficult to access so I thought I need a strong reason to come here. And I didn't have too many options anyway.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The grant was like 2500 euro but I've only received 1800. The next 700 I will have when I'll go back. So 1800/5 months would be like 360 per month but, for example, I pay for accommodation and bills almost 200 EUR. It sounds like enough but pay attention with spending money, mostly if you have to buy or print lot of things for school. Once I paid 50 euro for some A4 and B1 prints, so that's a lot. I recommend you to make a plan and to see exactly how much to spend every week. I tried to do that but I failed and now I have some problems with money.

There is a cheaper accommodation, simple hotel where you could pay about 100 euro per month, but is far from city center. There are places where you can eat with 2. 5 euro a pretty good meal also.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vilnius?

I needed an agency and it cost me 180 euro. Well, I'm here with a friend so we shared it.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vilnius from your city?

Certainly by plane. You really should buy your ticket earlier. You can find precious bargains.

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Vilnius?

  1. You shouldn't have any expectation related to the people here, honestly. They could be agreeable, especially if they already have been outside with Erasmus, but mostly they are like the weather: pretty cold I mean.
  2. Before making any contract (example: for rent) talk with the coordinator of the hosting university and make sure about the end of the semester. I thought that it will be in June but actually it will be in May so I've lost about 200 euro.
  3. And pay attention with taxies. They will charge you double or triple the prices.
  4. Ask larisa. [email protected]
