Why did you choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania?

I found the possibility to prepare my Ms degree's thesis at the Nature Research Centre because one doctor of this laboratory was very helpful.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I'm here in Erasmus + Placement for 6 months. I receive 430€ per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?

Amazing. I'm in the dormitory of the University and every they you can meet new people from all over the world. In the afternoon I usually study in the library, where there is right atmosphere.

If you want to go out, every night there is a party to attend.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vilnius to other students?

Yes, absolutely. The cost of living is low, all courses inside the University are in English and there is a good level of preparation.

What is the food like?

The typical Lithuanian meals are very heavy but good. I suggest to try the beetroot soup, "cepelinai" and "kibinai".

I find the accommodation contacting the University; they have some rooms reserved for Erasmus student.

In the dormitory of the University the single room costs 173€ per month, the double 87€ and triple 57€. At the restaurant you can eat and drink with 5€; in the pubs a pint of beer is aroud 2€.

The Lithuanian language is not simple but a lot of people speak English and Russian. The University organizes a course of "survival Lithuanian" for the Erasmus student. All courses in the University are in English.

For me the easiest and most economical way to travel is to take the plane from Milano (Bergamo) where there are some cheapest fligth of Ryanair and WizzAir.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vilnius?

Surely in a pub in the city, there are a lot, you only have to choose one. For exaple "RePubBlic", "La Birra", "Liverpool", "Porto Bello"... In case you want to dance you need to go in a club like "Salento" (full of Erasmus student), "Gran Club", "Exit", "Mojito" (Latin music).

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vilnius?

One typical reastaurant is "Dvaras" in the old town, they have traditional dishes. Another experience is to eat something in the restaurant on the TV tower.

Visit the old town, the cathedral, the Gediminas tower and Trakai. I suggest a trip to Klaipėda to visit the city of Nida when there is good weather.
