Erasmus experience in Vilnius, Lithuania
Why did you choose to go to Vilnius, Lithuania?
I could choose among 3 countries. Italy (they expected Italian on B1 level) Finland (too cold) and Lithuania (cheap country and many people speak Polish). That's why Lithuania was the best idea for me.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
5 months. I got 400 euro per month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Vilnius?
Quite nice. People from Erasmus are great. Not so many Lithuanian students are hanging out with Erasmus people.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Vilnius to other students?
Yes! 100%.
What is the food like?
Tasty but not very healthy.
How did you find your accommodation?
My university helped me.
What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?
Lithuania is rather cheap comparing to other EU countries. Maybe a bit more expensive than Poland.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes. Twice a week. I learned basic things from Lithuanian.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vilnius from your city?
From Poland by bus.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vilnius?
Salento, Plan B, Play club, Tarantino, Havana Club, Snekutis.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vilnius?
Cili pica, Cili kaimas, Chinese restaurant near green ortodox church.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
It could be better.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Vilnius in the future?
Just go and have fun!
