What is it like to live in Vienna? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

This city is my personal "best place on earth"! I went to vienna one year ago to live and study and i fell in love with this city! It is the perfect combination of modern metropolitan lifestyle with fashion and high society spots and freetime facilities.

For example you can be at the center of the city starring on that hundreds of years old marvellous architecture building the stephamdom and then under this dom you can take the modern, clean, colouful and safest metro in direction to donauinsel and in about 15 minutes you have the beach, volleyball, inlineskating..., the promenade to drink cocktails to mexican music and watch de sundown next to the water... Also, you can stay during the day liing there in bikini getting tanned like in your holydays! And all this just within 15 mins!

The universities have a history of more than 500 years and everytime when you walk up the big stairs in the univerity, you can think about jow many big people walked this way in their teenage times and the public transport and the nightlife! It doesnt matter what time there is always a place to make party and on weekend there is aalways a metro who brings you home again or safe nightbusses or trams again at 5:30 in the morning and there are studentbars like the "Loco" where you get really good and strong cocktails for 50c!

Or very elegant bars in the center like the Skybar or the Look bar above the roofes of Vienna.

Damn i love this city, i am at the moment in Santiago de Chile and when i am thinking of Vienna i could even get a bit homesick.

So yes i would definitely recomend it! I saw a lot of cities and vienna is the most beautiful one!

What is the student lifestyle like in Vienna?

I lived in a student dorm so everytime you want to do something you send a text to the whatsapp grpup of the student dorm amd 5 mins later you have ten people in front of your door to play beach soccer, or volleyball or going to cinema or shopping in one of vienna s big shopping malls or just going to a cheap student pub for having some drinks or some girls to put on the high heels and the dresses for going to party in one of vienna s exclusive elegant clubs like Volksgarten or Passage... So well, yeah, as a student in Vienna it will never be boring.

How much does it cost to live in Vienna?

For my room in the dorm i payed 360 euros (wifi, cleaning, heating, water, gym and sounas..., all inclusive) and for food about 100 € (without going out) and for buying healty and good food i can recommend Hofer, always the freshes fruits and vegetables and on saturdays 17:00 everything for 50 % off.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Vienna? Is there any advice you can give?

No there are Facebook groups, webpages and i would recommemd to go to a student dorm in the center like the ones in the 9th district, you have all inclusive and always people arround you for parties and free time and if you need your space and just want to be alone you go into your room and you van forget the others or you put on your running shoose and run along the Danube.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Omg the food is the best food and this is also what i am missing the most at the moment here in chile! The viennese food is soo good you can have everything from fat and criapy to really really healthy for afordable prices. Secret tip is the Bieriger in the 15th district, hide on a courner and the lunch buffet for 5 € and the best choise of all tipical austrian food like schweinsbraten, rippalan, sauerkraut...

What places would you recommend visiting in Vienna?

The Bieriger and the Donauinsel for chilling and sport and the Lugnercity for cheap cinema and for shopping the Mariahilfer Straße, the parks in the center of Vienna for meeting chilling slaklining and taning in the sun, the different spas in Vienna for cold winter days and the primarkt in the Shoppongcity süd.

Is it good to eat out in Vienna? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Centimeter! The tipical student spots for a lot of good food for a good price. There are i think four of them in the wholr city and they offer breakfast untill 15:00.

And also the Votiv cafe next to the Vienna University is a nice place for a good coffee.

Is the nightlife good in Vienna? Where is good to go?

As mentioned above, it's so great! Cheap and there are a lot of students: Loco or Travelshack both next to the metro so easy to get home again (best evenings are wednesday karaoke in Loco or thuesday in Travelshack).

Also, more elegant Lutz club or Volksgarten (expensive but really hot and classy people).

What advice would you give future students heading to Vienna?

Find a flat inside the gürtel so all the districts from 1-9. It is more expensive but soo much cooler to live near all the spots i mentioned above and there are a lot of nice affordable studentdorms!
