Erasmus experience in Vienna, Austria

Why did you choose to go to Vienna, Austria?

Because Vienna is a wondeful and overwhelming City, I suggest you to go there, but if you don't like cold, it's better to go there for the summer semester.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

in 2010-11 I got from the UE only 230 Euros and I can assure that they are not enough for living there.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vienna?

Being Vienna a huge City you won't find easily a very big group of Erasmus, you will create a good small one. ;-)

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vienna to other students?

Absolutely YES, if you want to discover new cultures, Vienna is the perfect city. It is full of theatres, cinemas, museum, ect.

What is the food like?

The food there is very tasty, you will find many different kind of dishes and I suggest you to try 'em all!
Beer, Semmel and Wuerstel will became your buddies! lol

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

the rent there is a little bit expensive but if search hard you can find cheap place to live in.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I had already studied German before going there, but austrian pronunciation is a bit strange... and some idioms are totally different. For the food they use different words.
ex.
Kartoffel --> Erdapfel
Moehre -->Karotte
Blumenkohl--> Karfiol

etc. ;-)

just go there and have fun!
