Experience in Vienna, Austria by Almu

What is it like to live in Vienna? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Vienna is an incredible place. I'd recommend it without a shadow of a doubt, every corner of the city is different to the last one you saw, but there's an impressive harmony between all of the buildings. It doesn't matter if you don't have a map or if you're going on an impromptu escape, because everything is nearby, enjoy the tiling, its every corner, the whole city.

What is the student lifestyle in Vienna?

When I got there, I actually realised that there was, generally, a very youthful atmosphere.

How much does it cost to live in Vienna?

It's very expensive, it has been the second most expensive city that I've been to, only beaten by London.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Vienna? Do you have any advice?

No, because I stayed in the residence where my friend was staying, so I had all that sorted.

What is the food like there? What are some of your favourite dishes?

I didn't go out to eat much, and when I did, I only ate in chain restaurants so I would know whether it would be more or less expensive.

Where would you recommend to visit in Vienna?

Everywhere you can, as I was only there for a short time, I spent a lot of time getting my bearings and so it was quite difficult to see things like the museums, but if you plan out your trip, you'll definitely be able to see the museums, etc. Something you absolutely cannot miss as the winter markets that they put up in all of the city's squares that have space for them, they usually go up in November until January.

And to eat in Vienna? What are some of your favourite places to go?

I wouldn't know what to say, because I couldn't actually tell you how much it'll cost you, but there's a place called Area 5 in Graz, where you can drink and eat pretty well for little money.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Vienna?

The partying is debatable, because, as it's a much more of a Nordic country, life is different there. Night life normally only goes on until 12 or 1 in the morning, don't expect anything to go on longer than that. In winter for example, the night starts at 5/6 in the afternoon.
