Why did you choose to go to Vienna, Austria?

Because of the study programs in the field of Sustainable Development and Environment.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

200 euros per month for students coming from France.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vienna?

Very pleasant, a lot of opportunities to travel, enrich your cultural life and enjoy a quiet but colorful city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vienna to other students?

Definitely!

What is the food like?

Pastry is excellent. For the rest it is okay, I'm vegetarian so I can't really comment on the rest. Apparently Schnitzel is quite nice too.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Vienna?

No. There are several groups where people publish their requests and offer for accommodation. Many student housing organisations exist so as long as you start your search on time, it's quite certain to find an affordable accommodation.

How much does it cost to live in Vienna?

It depends on personal expenses. Rent varies between 250 -450 euros a month. My expenses are roughly 550€/month (without travelling included).

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I don't speak or study German. There are plenty of opportunities to learn the language (courses, language tandems,... ) all year round both in University and in other institutions.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vienna from your city?

From Paris to Vienna it's not that cheap but you can find airplane tickets for around 120 euros. Another option: bus from Vienna to Budapest (chance to visit Hungary and cheap price: 12 euros) and then flight from Budapest to Paris (can be found for 40 euros). From Sofia to Vienna, the bus price is 100 euros round-trip.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vienna?

I love latino dances so I recommend latino bars. There are plenty of nice places around Stephansplatz but also around Thaliastrase and the line 6 of the metro.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vienna?

Deewan for Pakistani and Indian dishes. Aida for pastry and cakes. Schintzelwirt is a typical Austrian restaurant which I liked. Fresco Grill for Mexican.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Churches and museums come on my mind.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Vienna in the future?

Enjoy Vienna at the fullest.
