Why did you choose to go to Viena, Austria?

Mostly to improve my German. I've studied German before, and I wanted to become more fluent in speaking.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

5 months (1 semester). I receive 400 € monthly.

What is the student lifestyle like in Viena?

It's nice, there's a lot of parties and things to see. There are many organisations as well, that help you meet people and find your way around your university.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Viena to other students?

Yes. I study at TU Wien, and while courses may sometimes be demanding, the professors are always ready to help you and have no problem speaking English.

What is the food like?

The food is okay. I mostly cook for myself, because that is the cheapest option (prices of groceries in supermarkets aren't very high).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Viena?

No, I applied for a dorm via Internet (the only problem was getting the correct timing).

How much does it cost to live in Viena?

For me, it's 310 € a month in a two-bedroom apartment in a dorm.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I've studied German before so it wasn't really a problem. But there are a lot of language courses, and in some of them, you can even get ECTS points for attending.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Viena from your city?

By bus (a return ticket is 58 €).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Viena?

I like the pubs that are around Karlsplatz (there are many and all of them are really nice). I also liked the Jazz Bird Cafe near Westbahnhof.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Viena?

No restaurants, but across the street from Freihaus there is an Asia Box stand with Chinese food that is really good and pretty cheap.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There are many; just look it up on the Internet.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Viena in the future?

Bring a bike if you can!
