Why did you choose to go to Vienna, Austria?

I wanted to improve my German and to go on an exchange for a year to get to know a difficult culture. One day I saw on the internet that Vienna is a city of art, music and culture, and these were my 3 big motives. Why wouldn't I give myself the chance to live in such a city?

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I came with my own grant, meaning I save the scholarship until the savings run out, I've been here a year and a half and I'm still here.

What is the student lifestyle like in Vienna?

The atmosphere is very good, especially as you meet a lot of people from different countries who have different cultures and mentalities. It depends on your group of friends but the majority of people are good fun.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Vienna to other students?

Absolutely, I think that it's been one of the best things I've ever done in my life.

What is the food like there?

The food is good, but I don't like red meat or fried food or milk, etc. The food is absolutely delicious, I'm the problem here; ) My favourite restaurant is in the first district and it's called Krewn, in front of Robertos bar, you can get a great quinoa and goats cheese dish, it's absolutely delicious.

Was it difficult to find accommodation in Vienna?

I didn't come with any accommodation sorted. But I heard that, in general, it's not difficult to find, just expensive.

How much does it cost to live in Vienna?

€1, 200 a month minimum, including accommodation, food and going out once in a while.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?

Yes, I went on courses at the sprachenzentrum at the Wein University, the courses are very demanding, but you learn a lot. I'm at a B2 level now.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Vienna from your home city?

I'm from South America, you can't really find a way to save money on the plane tickets. The cheapest ones cost around €1, 500 for a return ticket.

Where would you recommend for a night out in Vienna?

And to eat in Vienna? What are some of your favourite places to go?

My favourite place is Krewn, in front of Roberto's bar, in the first district. Meduza restaurant is very good, too. Schweizer Haus serves typical Austrian food.

The best advice is to give what you come to do all you've got, try your best to learn and give yourself the opportunity to live an incredible adventure.
