Why did you choose to go to Växjö, Sweden?

I choose Sweden because I`m studying Health- and Care-Management and since Sweden has one of the best systems regarding health and care it was my first choice.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

6 Months. I received around 900€ for the whole time.

What is the student lifestyle like in Växjö?

Students have besides studying a lot of time to travel and other activities. You can either travel by yourself or with the VIS (university program). But you can also see a lot of different things around Växjö. Since it is Europe's greenest city you have a lovely landscape right around the city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Vaxjo to other students?

Yes! The university is quite new so everything is offered, for example the library or pcs, are up to date and useful to work with.

Food out of a restaurant is quite expensive (ca. 10€ for a Pizza) but the prices in supermarkets are nearly the same as in for example Germany.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It depends a lot on where you choose to live. You don`t need to talk Swedish in general but you`re most likely to do so if you`re not living directly on campus.

There are language courses (level 1 and 2) available for free as an exchange student.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Växjö from your city?

This depends on how early you book your travel. You can come here for 80€ via train or around the same price via Ryanair (Luggage is quite expensive at Ryanair)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Vaxjo?

Kafe Deluxe or Sportz.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Vaxjo?

Maestro (on campus) - nice Pizza.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The art exhibition is for free and always worth to visit. Otherwise, you can take a walk around the lakes and can view the beautiful landscape. If you are into classical music or theater you should visit the music hall and the theater.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Växjö in the future?

If you want to come here take some time with you so that you can explore the country. Sweden is really beautiful and always worth a visit. Moreover, look early enough for a place to stay, since every year more and more students move here.
