Erasmus Experience in Växjö, Sweden by Yumna
Why did you choose to go to Växjö, Sweden?
I have made some internet search about the city, my self-nature like quiet historical places with lots of green landscape and Växjö is elected as the greenest city in Europe that was really tempting for me. You should look at how people here are so friendly, they make you feel immediately at home. I have a friend in my home county Kuwait who is Swedish, she encouraged me to go to Sweden and I took her suggestion and I'm so lucky I did that. :)
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I'm a self-paying international student, I took the initiative to pay for the programme and challenge being in a different country base don what I have heard as recommendations from different people.
What is the student lifestyle like in Växjö?
Rich in knowledge, fewer quality activities, however, lots of activities are going on around the clock it's amazing! The library is so cozy and comfortable I can spend hours doing my assignments without feeling bored or irritated.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Växjö to other students?
Yes sure, I would recommend it to everyone who likes to get a good quality of education with a wonderful student life. The lecturers here are so helpful, caring and educated. I was surprised by the level of education they have and how they are committed to research in almost every field, it's amazingly wonderful. I uploaded photos from my experience with my kids in this city, how amazing also they have the ICE hockey team of ' Lakers'!
What is the food like?
Normal, I didn't like its all sandwiches, I wish there were more tasty options like hot meals and deserts other than those in cafe's.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Växjö?
Yes, a lot, maybe accommodation is the most important issue that should be looked at in the coming years, students can find their accommodation easily and they keep on moving around until they will find the suitable accommodation. I was lucky and with planning, I got to have a nice flat near the campus but it's not the same situation for all students.
How much does it cost to live in Växjö?
11000 monthly, but I live with my two kids in a two bedroom flat, I have two kids to share with this amazing place.
