Experience in Valencia, Spain by Maria
What is it like to live in Valencia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Valencia is a great place to study. First of all you have to value the weather. Seriously, where else do you get that much sun? Its possible to go to the beach throughout the year, even if its just for having a beer on a terrace.
Universities are good too, I mean, they have a good level of education and good timetables.
And of course partying! It's great to party here, different from anywhere else. You usually get the Spanish shitty music, but hey, you are in Spain, like everything else you have to give some credit to their music too!
I came here by accident and after three years I wouldn't be hoping to be anywhere else! Have a great stay!

What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?
Student lifestyle... I have many friends studying all over the world, and I don't know anyone that they just change the deadline for a project just because the teacher had too much partying!
How much does it cost to live in Valencia?
Not much, depending on what you eat, where you live and how much partying you do. If you are not a protein/organic food freak you won't have any problems with money.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Valencia? Is there any advice you can give?
Not at all. If you are an Erasmus student, don't even try getting an apartment on your own. The Blasco Ibañez area is great and there are so many offers for rooms you can look through.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Try montaditos and tapas. Cheap, great variety and fills you up! Also paella and churros are nice! Do try all the traditional plates! It's worth it!
What places would you recommend visiting in Valencia?
Personally I love the center (Carmen area) and Ruzafa. Ruzafa or Russafa is a great place if you want something alternative. On weekends there are clubs and bars you can hang out and there are also great restaurants.
Also visit Benimaclet! Same as Russafa but smaller and more quiet. On Fridays they have great markets!
Do visit the "Mercado central", at least once.
