Why did you choose to go to Valencia, Spain?

Have you ever heard about sunsets in Valencia? Have you ever seen it? No! There are no sunsets..

I heard this magic statement a lot of times, but it seems like an impossible thing, how it can be true..? I was thinking about it several times per week, per moth, per year, but i couldn't imagine it.. And one day it happened.. I had a perfect opportunity to spend six wonderful months By Erasmus programme in Valencia. I couldn't imagine that I am going to study here, in the best university, that i am going 3500km from my country. It was awesome. That was my dream.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am going to study here 6 months and approximately i need 500euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Valencia?

Oh students in Valencia are unbelievable. They are so relaxed and so crazy, they like parties, they love travelling, they can help you every time, they will do everything what you want. Their lifestyle is so flexible that you can not imagine, they have time for everything, including studies, parties, trips, shopping, playing games, sport.. and a lot of other.. I fell in love with this lifestyle. If you wanna learn something other student will be with you, if you wanna go to the sea they will be with you, if you wanna to dance they will dance with you, if you wanna to cry whey will make you happy..

Valencia don't let you waste your time.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Valencia to other students?

I recommend Valencia and University of Polytechnic as much as I can. It is great, the city is perfect with a lot of green zones, amazing buildings, with awesome beach and blue sea. University.. I can't call it "University"..It is huge.. it is like a city. There are a lot of faculties, a lot of students, a lot of bars, entertainments including tennis courts, volley ball, basketball, pool, water-pool, football, a huge stadium for running.. I can not remember everything. Really! You are walking in this university and you feel that it is like a paradise, sometimes you can think that it is holiday time and you are getting rest. Teachers are good and flexible, they are trying to help you in all cases like everybody in Valencia. Really it is awesome choice to select this city and this university.

What is the food like?

You can find a lot of vegetables and fruits here, also you can find products of milk, meat, rices, macaroni. It is the most popular in Spain.

How did you find your accommodation?

We have used advertisements on the internet and we just were going to look flats. The third trying was successful :) We found amazing flat with 6 rooms, two baths and with all furnitures and domestic electric appliances just for 600euros.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

Prices of accommodation are very different, but we have a wonderful flat just for 600 euros per month, so it is not expensive, because we are living 5 persons in this flat, and we are paying 120euros for person + about 30 euros for utility (water, electricity, ect. ) per month.

Prices of food, clothes or other necessary things are not big. I haven't feel a big difference, because prices in my country (Lithuania) is almost the same like in Spain. For example bread costs about 1euro, meat 2-3euros, wine 1-3euros, bear 0, 30euros T-shirts 4-10euros, jeans 10-30euros. So it is really not expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It is easy enough to learn Spanish language, but there are more languages which you can choose for studying (Also you can attend courses of Spanish, English, French, German languages). For instance, i have chosen English language, but there are a lot of people from China, French, Poland, United States, Slovakia, Holland and other, so you can find a way to meet some new friends or learn languages.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Valencia from your city?

Bicycles! It is the cheapest and most useful thing in Valencia. You can pay 18 euros per YEAR, and you can rent a bike. Yes, I know that it is amazing and unbelievable, but it is true.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Valencia?

I strongly recommend you to visit all clubs, but if you have not much time, you must go into "Caribeans", "Mirrors", "Pollo55", SkyClub" they are the best and you can find a lot of people from all over the world here.

Of course there are one more place where you must go at night. THE BEACH!. Yes, you must see it, it is not possible to describe it.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Valencia?

Usually we are eating at home or in the university, so i still don't know a lot of names of restaurants, but "Tony Bar" is really good. Also there are wonderful restaurant on the beach coast, where you can find great food and exciting view from windows.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I recommend you visit Bio-park (it is like a zoo, but more excited), old city, museums, you can not miss any place.

There are some nice places:

Furthermore, you should know El Saler y La Albufera de Valencia. It's a

lake near of the beach with great variety of migratory birds and reach

in views. It's a typical place of Valencia that everybody should know.

It's the place on old valencian people cultivate rice and other

techniques of fishing. Also, it's the place that Blasco Ibañez related to in

his novels. Blasco Ibañez is a famous novelist in the world. For example,

"the four horsemen of the apocalypse" and many others that were

translated into a large amount of languages.

Good luck and a lot of fun!

Just smile and be friendly and everything will be perfect!
