Why did you choose to go to Valencia, Spain?

I'm an Erasmus student here. I´ve chosen Valencia because it´s smaller, cheaper, more organised and less crowded than Barcelona.

There is almost no winter in this city. It has a beautiful beach where you can spend some time after a tiring day. People are friendly and they are never in a rush.

There is a lot to see and to do in the city. And also there are small cities around Valencia where you can easily reach by car in maximum 1 hour and they are worth seeing.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Valencia to other students?

Yes I would definitely recommend it.

What is the food like?

The food is extremely delicious. They have paella, tortillas, fideuà, tapas and bocadillos. You will definitely find something in this range that really satisfies you.

If you eat outside be careful because sometimes the food is really salty.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Valencia?

No it didn't.

I found my accommodation through a friend but you'll find lots of online advertisements. I'd recommend you to check the Erasmusu page in Valencia. There are also some agencies.

How much does it cost to live in Valencia?

Accommodation is approximately 150-300€ with the bills included. The rest depends on you.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Spanish is such a beautiful language. Spanish people speak fast and loud because they love sharing. And in my opinion it´s easy to learn because you have the chance to practice it any time you want.

There is this Centro de Idiomas de la Universitat de Valencia which provides language courses per semester and it costs 65€ for one semester course (in 2014).

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Valencia from your city?

I live in Istanbul in Turkey so you can either take a direct flight from there to here with Turkish Airlines. It takes 3 hours more or less and Valencia airport is not far away from the city centre. You can easily reach it by metro.

Or you can take a flight to Barcelona or Madrid and a train from there to here but train tickets are not that cheap.

If you don't have any plans to visit other cities for the first time arrival in Valencia, I recommend Turkish Airlines.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Valencia?

There are lots of clubs and free entry offers almost every night. I recommend:

  • Umracle.
  • Mya.
  • Rumbo.
  • Superclub.
